Pencils are the main thing to start any art work, you should purchase a box of pencil, you can take pencil either of Apsara or Art Line, The pencil comes in various types such as HB and 10B. You should purchase 4-5 pencil of the same type, for example if you are using 2B pencil in any art work than you must have atleast 4-5 pencil of 2B type, try buying a full box of pencil because whenever we appear in any entrance examination then if the pencil gets fall on the floor then the nib of pencil gets broken and if we think to sharpen that it would take lot of time to do that so we must keep 4-5 pencil handy with us as a backup.

Graphite lead present in the nib of pencil, its thickness is around 1.5 inch, for Graphite lead pencil Kohinoor company is prescribed as best, it comes in 8B as well as in 10B. It would be better if you take more bold pencil, pencil is used for shading purposes whereas the background in still life is consist of black drapery and in that graphite lead is used so that it can be clearly visible to the viewer.
