great, In this article I have penned down the various important points about
the Kalamkari Art which are very worth reading and I have also talked about the
brief history of Kalamkari art.
Introduction about Art:-
Kalamkari Art is very traditional folk
Art of India. Kalamkari is made up by combining two words i.e. “Kalam” meaning
Pen and “Kari” meaning work. This art was mainly practiced in temples on
various kinds of clothes, as in the process we do on canvas and the same way
kalamkari was also practiced, The art works were usually used to be hanged on
the back side of temples. The especial and most used thing in kalamkari art was
wooden blocks in which we can make a unique design by carving the wooden block as
you may have seen on sarees textile printing along with wooden block there used to be a
stick which was made up of brass, with both of these equipments i.e. wooden
block and stick the kalamkari art was performed , The colours to be painted in kalamkari art were earth colour i.e. natural
colours. There was no usage of any type of chemical colours in this art. This
art needs more skills and need to performed slowly because it requires a lot of
patience as it needs retaining to perform it.
